Serious Concern Regarding Change in Hackathon Prize Structure

Hello Team,
We participated in the hackathon based on the original announcement, which clearly stated that prizes would be awarded to 8 participants, each worth $200. This information played a key role in our decision to participate.

We have now observed that the prize structure has been changed to a single non-cash prize. This change, made after participants committed their time and effort, is a violation of the originally stated rules and undermines the trust of the participants.

Such post-announcement changes are against fair competition practices, and platforms like Devpost treat these matters seriously. We request that the originally announced prizes be honored for existing participants to maintain transparency and credibility.

We look forward to a prompt clarification and resolution.

    Hey Nikhil,

Thank you for sharing your concerns. We understand why prize details are important to participants, and we’d like to clarify the situation and the steps we’re taking.

To begin, the originally listed $200 amount referred to an estimated prize value, not a guaranteed cash payout. On the Devpost page, the prize category was listed as “Other / TBD,” and no prize was explicitly described as cash. The exact prize structure was dependent on sponsor confirmation.

Unfortunately, a sponsor we were in discussions with fell through shortly before the event concluded. As a result, we had to adjust the final prize structure based on the resources that were ultimately available.

Given the concerns raised, we have contacted Devpost directly to request clarification and guidance to ensure that our handling of the prizes is fully compliant with their platform guidelines and fair-use policies. We are acting in good faith and want to make sure this is resolved appropriately and transparently.

We appreciate the time and effort all participants put into the hackathon, and we will share any relevant updates from Devpost as I receive it. Thank you for your patience and understanding.

I am writing to report an unresolved issue regarding the 2nd-place prize for the "Student Without Borders" hackathon. The prize includes a $200 CodeCrafters membership. Despite winning and replying to the official prize email three times over the last 23 days, I have received no response or access details.

Please provide an update on the status of this prize distribution. I look forward to your resolution.
